Trafford Labour's Cllr. Steve Adshead has recently taken a decision that green bin collections will not take place in the week between Christmas 2023 and the New Year.
Commenting on Cllr. Adshead’s choice, Bucklow-St. Martins by-election candidate, Paul Lally said "It’s disappointing that the Trafford Labour administration have signed off this decision, which was taken without any consultation with residents and is not subject to scrutiny through the council's ‘call-in’ process.
Many families, especially those with the smaller green bin caddies will be dismayed that at a time of the year when families accumulate excess food waste, that the waste will not be collected for up to two weeks.
North Trafford Local Conservatives are also concerned that excess food waste may end up in grey waste bins and not be recycled, which would place additional costs on hard-pressed Council Taxpayers.
Labour’s choice also fails to live up to their commitment through the council’s Corporate Plan to ‘reduce the amount of food waste in our borough.”
