Trafford Council along with other local authorities responsible for education has a statutory duty to provide sufficient places in schools and early years settings. To help meet that duty for the following years, the government awarded Trafford Council Basic Need capital funding (for expansion of pupil places) of £8.510m for 2023/24.
North Trafford Local Conservatives are delighted that the School Places Team at the council has again, despite unprecedented demand on places in Trafford, met its statutory requirement and offered a place to every child who applied to secondary schools in the borough.
Trafford is renowned for its choice in education and as some secondary schools in the borough are over-subscribed, some children will not have been offered their first choice of school. Parents who need further information regarding school places, including how to appeal against the decision of an admission authority can find out more at Admission policies (trafford.gov.uk)
