Emily Carter-Kandola, Conservative candidate for the Stretford and Urmston by-election has welcomed new figures released that show there are a record number of doctors and nurses working in the NHS in England, delivering extra appointments, speeding up diagnoses and busting the Covid backlog. The figures show that in North West hospitals, there are 422 more doctors and 1807 more nurses working in hospitals than last year.
Commenting on the news, Emily Carter-Kandola said “The Conservative government is committed to delivering a properly funded health service with a strong workforce, providing quality care for everyone who needs it. That is why the government has recruited over 9,000 more nurses and almost 4,000 more doctors since September 2021 – which means there are now over 34,170 more doctors and over 44,820 more nurses working in the NHS than in 2010.
“The government is delivering on its NHS Long Term Plan – and remain on track to deliver on its commitment to recruit 50,000 more nurses by 2024 as it works to tackle the Covid backlogs and improve patient outcomes.
“I want to thank all our brilliant NHS staff, especially those in the Stretford and Urmston constituency who work tirelessly to look after us and our loved ones and continue to inspire future generations to join this rewarding career.”
