Having two world famous sports stadiums puts Gorse Hill and Stretford firmly on the map, but it comes at a cost. Many residents have been in contact with us to say that the impact of events at the stadiums is having a growing negative impact on them and the wider community.
While the majority of spectators on matchdays are considerate, there is a sizeable minority who disrespect our community. We will all have witnessed as some point the Anti-Social Behaviour on match days such as public drinking, public urination, littering, not to mention the ‘parking attendants’ who direct drivers to park where they are not allowed to and then charge them for the privilege. A rising concern with the ‘parking attendants’ is reports of harassment and intimidation which they have been showing towards residents.
Your local Conservative team is on your side and would like to hear your views on how match days impact on you and your community. We have launched a campaign to hear your views which you can access at www.stretfordandurmstonconservatives.uk/campaigns/trafford-match-day-mayhem
We will then collect all your views and present them to Greater Manchester Police and Trafford Council as a call to action to finally start to resolve these issues, instead of fobbing off the local community with empty promises.
Other communities would not put up with visitors disrespecting them, so why should Gorse Hill and Stretford?
