The news that Trafford Hongkongers CIC has received Government funding as part of the £2.6m Hong Kong British National (Overseas) Welcome Programme for 2023/24 has been welcomed by North Trafford Local Conservatives.
Trafford Hongkongers CIC was established in 2021 to help newcomers from Hong Kong to settle and do well in their new lives in Trafford. The Community Interest Company is one of 47 civil society organisations, providing BN(O) visa holders with vital language, employment and mental health support awarded funding through the programme. Specifically, the funding is for a project to offer well-being and integration for school children with workshops, community integration through martial arts and Information Technology workshops.
Commenting on the grant funding Stuart Donnelly, local campaigner for North Trafford Local Conservatives said “Hong Kongers have become a vibrant part of the Trafford community and have been behind new businesses and social enterprises, making a fantastic contribution to Trafford life.
“This funding from the Conservative Government is very good news and will help local Hong Kongers and their dependants who have been given new lives in the Trafford, additional support on their pathway to citizenship.”
