The news that Trafford has been allocated an extra £215,530 of funding by the Conservative Government to help older people and those with disabilities live safely and independently in their own homes has been welcomed by North Trafford Local Conservatives.
This year’s funding forms part of a £50 million package of support to local authorities in England and will be delivered through the Disabled Facilities Grant and comes on top of the annual £573 million already provided to local authorities for home improvement services. Since 2010, there have been almost half a million home adaptions, backed by £4.8 billion in funding in England.
Commenting on the additional funding, Stuart Donnelly, campaigner for North Trafford Local Conservatives said “This additional Conservative Government funding is welcome news for Trafford and it will allow more eligible older and disabled people to live as independently and safely as possible in their homes.
“It’s not just good news for local residents, but hospitals too as it will mean more hospital beds for the next patients who need them.”
