The Conservative Government recently announced that its extension of the Household Support Fund is now available to local authorities – providing an additional £842 million to support the most vulnerable households. Trafford Council will be receiving an additional £2,916,149 taking the total level of support provided to Trafford Council residents from the fund to £7,290,372.
The Household Support Fund is a discretionary fund provided to local authorities such as Trafford Council, enabling councils to provide support to vulnerable families struggling to cover essential costs who may not be eligible for other Government support schemes.
Commenting on the news, Jonathan Coupe, one of the three Conservative election candidates for the Davyhulme ward in 2023 said “The Household Support Fund has already helped vulnerable families across Trafford through challenging times, and in Trafford part of the funding has been used to support families with a child in receipt of free school meals through the school holidays with cash payments. The fund has also been used to provide families with financial support for food, fuel and water.
“This additional funding to Trafford Council is very welcome and is one of a range of measures that will ensure that vulnerable Trafford families are continued to be supported with the cost of living by the Conservative Government.”
