The government has awarded a share of £2.1 billion to over 100 local communities as part of the second round of the Levelling Up Fund, supporting projects that will create jobs and boost economic growth across the country. The fund will provide greater investment in communities that will create new jobs, drive economic growth, help restore people’s pride in the places where they live, and spread opportunity more equally.
In Trafford, the redevelopment of Partington Sports Village has been awarded £18.2m to provide state-of-the-art facilities for the local community.
Commenting on the news, North Trafford Conservative campaigner, Jonathan Coupe said “This allocation of £18.2m by the government is fantastic news for Partington and Trafford. Partington has been overlooked by Labour Trafford Council for too long and Partington residents can look forward to much improved local sports facilities thanks to government funding.
“The funding also delivers on the promise of the Conservative Party manifesto and the Levelling Up White Paper to realise the potential of every place and person across the UK, so no matter where you live, you have the opportunities needed to succeed.”
