Tracey Haworth, a campaigner for North Trafford Local Conservatives is encouraging community organisations to bid for a share of £1 million of government funding to buy life-saving defibrillators for community spaces like local parks and other community buildings.
Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are found in many public spaces and are used to save the lives of people experiencing cardiac arrest. The AEDs can be used by untrained bystanders in an emergency.
The Department of Health and Social Care is inviting interested organisations to register expressions of interest for its £1 million Community Automated External Defibrillators Fund, aimed at increasing the number of AEDs in public places where they are most needed and help save lives.
Commenting on the fund, Tracey Haworth said “Being someone who works for the NHS, I know the difference that having a defib nearby can make in a life-or-death situation. That is why I am encouraging local community organisations to register an interest in this life saving technology by visiting here.”
