Concerns about the condition of roads and pavements in the Stretford and Urmston constituency has been raised on the doorsteps as an issue by many residents. Conservative by-election candidate, Emily Carter-Kandola said that ”Potholes are a familiar sight on many of Trafford’s roads and that is why the Conservative government is providing £2.7 billion in England over the next 3 years for roads maintenance – enough to fill in millions of potholes a year, repair dozens of bridges and resurface thousands of miles of roads, including those in Trafford.”
Regarding the constituency’s rail services, Emily said “If elected, I will also work with Ministers, local leaders and our rail providers to get everyone round the table so Stretford and Urmston also has the quality rail services and connections it so badly needs.
“I am also delighted that the recent Autumn Statement maintains public capital investment at record levels, delivering over £600 billion of investment over the next five years and that the government also remains committed to High Speed Rail, Northern Powerhouse Rail and the Transpennine Route Upgrade. These are transformative growth projects which will really benefit Stretford and Urmston residents.”
