The Conservative Government’s Basic State Pension boost has been welcomed by North Trafford Local Conservatives. In total, 12.5 million pensioners across the UK will benefit from the Conservative Government’s 10.1 per cent increase in the Basic State Pension from April 2023, including 15,604 in the Stretford and Urmston parliamentary constituency.
In addition to this uplift, local pensioners will benefit from another £300 Pensioner Cost of Living Payment this winter, which forms part of the Conservative Government’s direct support for those groups most vulnerable to the effects of inflation caused by the war in Ukraine.
Commenting on the news, Jonathan Coupe, one of the three Local Conservative candidates in the Davyhulme ward said “It’s very welcome that thousands of pensioners in North Trafford are to receive a boost to their Basic State Pension. The Conservative Government’s 10.1 per cent increase, as part of the pension Triple Lock will help protect pensioners from the effects of inflation, especially as many local pensioners live on fixed incomes.“
