The Conservative Government has announced millions of families will receive the second of three £300 Cost of Living Payments between 31 October and 19 November 2023, helping the most vulnerable people with day-to-day costs. In the Stretford and Urmston parliamentary constituency, 13,600 households are estimated to be eligible for the means-tested benefit Cost of Living Payment.
Commenting on the payments, Jonathan Coupe, North Trafford Local Conservative campaigner said “Putin’s war in Ukraine and the UK’s recovery from the pandemic has seen inflation rise, that is why between 31 October and 19 November 2023, thousands of local families on means-tested benefits will receive a second Cost of Living Payment, totalling £900 across three payments – with some families receiving £1,350 of support in total. Payments will be made automatically, and eligible pensioner households will also receive a further £300 payment later this year as an addition to the Winter Fuel Payment.
“This builds on the Conservative Government’s support with the cost of living, including paying for half of family’s energy bills, as the Government works to halve inflation, grow the economy and reduce debt.”
